Buying

If you've got your heart set on a new or pre-owned alternative that you want to accompany you on all your trips down Church Street, you're going to want to buy your upcoming Honda. We have never been here but they had a used Pilot we wanted to text drive. We walked in and were met by Mike Massaro, immediately I liked him. He’s funny. We went on our test drive where I made lots of comments about what I liked and what I didn’t. We got back to the dealership and he made suggestions based on all the things i had said. I hadn’t said them to him but just had commented. He LISTENED, like really listened. He then went over how since I didn’t care about some things and loved other things that many a new pilot was a better idea. But not just to make sale to make me happier with my choice and the monetary difference wasn’t large because I was looking at a used touring vs a new exl. I have never had a new car. Never cared about that but this did make sense. He didn’t push, he guided us to a better decision for our family but never made me feel like I didn’t have a choice or feel stuck like I couldn’t just leave. It was a wonderful experience and I have recommended him to others. We also met some managers, Rob & Chris. And they were both so nice. Rob handled negotiations and did so in a way that didn’t make us feel like we were not understood. In all the times I have bought a car I always leave feeling like I got the bad end of the deal. This time I didn’t feel like that. I know they are there to make money and I understand but I do feel like they worked with us more than others and they were polite and straightforward the entire time. So if you need a used or new car I highly recommend them.

Joe Sanchez was great to work with! Super friendly, knowledgeable, and not pushy. We are so excited for our new, used car. The only negative part of our experience was how long the financing step took. Make sure you bring a book, fully charged device, and snacks. Only having one finance manager for three dealer buildings is insane!! Jim was nice and very easy to work with but one person can only accomplish so much. An upgrade to printers and stocked complimentary beverages could really elevate the experience.

Honestly it's really frustrating hearing from every single dealership the Spiel of, "how we have our cars set at the standard market pricing" No dealership is unique anymore or or has anything unique to offer. You're all basic you have the same basic vehicles at the same standard pricing. People who own dealerships used to offer unique interactions and be willing to make deals on vehicles to create a lifelong relationship with someone who's going to probably purchase more than one vehicle throughout their life. None of you have anything to offer so everybody just goes to a different dealership anytime they need a new car because you have nothing worth offering.

We visited Napleton’s first when we were looking for a car and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience. The salesperson seemed completely disinterested from the start and offered little to no information about the vehicle we were interested in. We actually had to ask just to go on a test drive, and even then, it felt like we were inconveniencing him. When it came time to talk numbers, the lack of effort and engagement made the process frustrating and uncomfortable. We decided to leave and ended up going to McGrath Honda in Elgin, and the difference was night and day. From the moment we walked in, we felt valued. Our salesperson stayed with us the entire time, thoroughly explained every detail of the vehicle, and made sure all of our questions were answered. The whole team was professional, respectful, and never once made us feel pressured or pushed into anything we didn’t want. We ultimately got exactly the deal we were hoping for, and the experience couldn’t have been more different. Highly recommend taking your business somewhere that actually values its customers.

I’ve been going to this dealership for years for my repairs and I can say that I’ve been disappointed every time. Although I will say they usually do get the initial problem fixed, 9/10 times one or more issues will pop up in the aftermath of the supposed “fix”, and sometimes that includes the initial problem returning. I’ve had my oil overfilled, under filled, screws missing, parts falling off from not being secured properly, the problem I went to get fixed coming back only days later, and new issues popping up. I tend to come to this dealership because of their expertise for my Honda but I’m always paying for service just to pay more to come back. At this point I’d rather pay more to go to a regular shop if I have to keep coming back.

I am going to be as respectful as I can when writing this review in hopes that as many people as possible will be directed elsewhere and take this review seriously! If you don't, buyer beware! On Saturday March 21st my boyfriend(31) and myself(34) went into Napleton Honda in Loves Park with the full intent to purchase a vehicle. The first time we walk into this dealer, THE FIRST dealer we stop at, we were not only NOT greeted with ANY warmth, we were judged immediately! Tony took one look at us and thought to himself that we weren't worth his time or energy so he was going to treat us that way. He lived up to that promise! After his very uninterested "hi," we stated we had 2 cars on the lot we wanted to test drive. Reluctantly, his first thought was to grab a piece of paper to ask us what we wanted our payment to be and what money we had to put down. I was so thrown off by the utter disrespect in his voice and attitude that I couldn't even believe what I was hearing. We stated that our interest was in a Chevy Equinox and a Honda Pilot. We answered his questions, yes reluctantly due to his sincerely terrible attitude to start, as he INSISTED he couldn't help us without them. Which is disreputable right off the bat. Now, through the ENTIRE encounter with Tony, I have never dealt with MORE unprofessional, disrespectful attitude than we did with this "man." Everything he said to us from the beginning of this appointment was condescending, rude and just down right disappointing! Never in my life, after working in 2 dealerships as well, have I seen ANY salesman treat ANYONE with that level of unkind and bothered attitude. He sat across from us stating how he had the BEST deal within 900 miles on a Honda Pilot and we would NEVER find another one and we'd be back. He was so bothered by us he said their offer was $400 off. A $16500 vehicle and we get a "great" deal of $400 off because they put $3400 into the car when it came in and no one else would treat a trade in or sell so well as they did. Well, thank you for your "deal" but we DID find another Pilot. No, not an equivalent, BETTER! This has a higher trim level, leather with heated seats, AWD, a sunroof, brand new tires, brakes, alignment, full inspection form and Carfax provided 20 minutes away at $12,495! We were also told no dealer would EVER include a warranty and they will always charge for an after market through the manufacturer or it's already built into the price. Well, we got one INCLUDED in our price with no increase after adding it AFTER we discussed numbers and what we could get the vehicle down to BEFORE running credit and stating what we had to put down which everyone knows WILL change the price. We were ALSO told by Tony that we would NEVER be able to finance a low amount because NO bank would risk it on a used vehicle. Well, we did that too. In fact, we financed LESS than what we had to with Hondas vehicle, IN LESS YEARS, due to the car being less to start and we had more to put down than we stated. Tonys sheer lack of ability to do business with anyone less than a rich, privileged individual so lucky to buy Audi or Mercedes, simply because they don't care about money in the first place, was incomparable to anyone I've spoken to at a dealer. However, despite all we received and the biggest point of this review is WE FOUND COMPASSION. Tony couldn't even be bothered to get out of his chair to greet us, shake my boyfriends hand and introduce himself before grabbing that paper and talking numbers. We have now directed two other customers we know that are in the market for a car AWAY from this dealer and they are now looking elsewhere all because one individual couldn't be bothered to make our deal work. We have a beautiful new Honda Pilot we got for $11,100! Good luck to this dealer and anyone choosing to shop here.
